ImageTools is a powerful suite of image manipulation tools for Discord, and one of its most popular features is the ability to remove backgrounds from images. In 2026, this functionality is more accessible than ever, thanks to our new user-installed apps feature.

Step 1: Install ImageTools via User App Installation

Click the link below to install ImageTools directly to your Discord user account. This grants access across all servers you join.

Follow the authorization prompts to complete the installation. Once done, ImageTools will appear in your Discord apps menu whenever you’re in any server.

Step 2: Remove Background from an Image

Once installed, you can remove backgrounds using either of the following methods:

Method A: Right-Click Context Menu (for existing messages)

Find the image you want to modify and right-click on the message. Navigate to AppsImageToolsRemove background. This works for any message with an image in any channel.

Method B: Slash Command (for uploading from your device)

Type /removebg in any channel to access the slash command interface. You’ll be prompted to attach an image from your device.

Select an image file from your device — once attached, you’ll see a preview before sending the command.

Result

Within seconds, ImageTools processes your image and returns a version with the background removed. The result is a transparent PNG that you can save or share directly.
